I have to enter a canvas for a charity event and i don’t want to paint on it (that will just mess it up) so can just use a 4B pencil, sketch something on it and then fixitive it? Does that count as a finished product? Should I do anything beforehand/afterwards to make it more finished?

Now I have the opportunity to sell art prints of that picture of the horse (the one that I drew in pencil, it’s not the photograph I would sell). Does the copyright on that calendar picture cover drawings based on the picture (so I can’t sell my pic without breaking copyright laws)? This has always been confusing to me.
